DOCUMENTS & VISAS
If you are travelling to Sierra Leone or transiting through it, your passport, Identity card or Emergency Travelling Certificate will be checked at the border crossing point. This could be at the airport, a land border or a sea port. The same checks will be carried out if you are leaving the country.
For entry to Sierra Leone, a single entry visa (up to 30 days) and a valid Passport are required. For longer stays of more than 30 days, a fee-based extension (up to 90 days) must be applied for. Since Sept 2022, an Airport Security fee is charged to each arriving and departing passenger to/from Sierra Leone.
VISA
Visas can be obtained through an Embassy or online, through the Sierra Leone Immigration Department. Visa on Arrival is granted at the point of entry and valid for 30 days for a single entry and only for tourism, business, religion, and academic or family visits. Each traveler must obtain a separate Visa, including infants and children.
Security fee
To ensure airport safety, an Airport Security fee of $25 (credit / debit card fees not included) is charged to each arriving and departing passenger to / from all international airports in Sierra Leone. Payments can be made prior to departure through the Securipass Travel Site. Make sure to provide proof of payment upon arrival.
Visa is exempted for all Ecowas Citizens and Nationals of Countries that share a reciprocal agreement with Sierra Leone. Nationals of( AU )Countries can obtain a visa at $25 and at $80 for Nationals of Non (AU) countries. An application ID will be issues after payment. ECOWAS MEMBERS
If you are an ECOWAS citizen, no visa is required to travel to Sierra Leone, except a valid passport, an Identity Card or an ETC to travel or transit through Sierra Leone.

COUNTRIES WITH RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT
Nationals of the following countries are not charged for visa on arrival as there is a reciprocal agreement with these countries not to charge each other for entry visas:
