visit Bunce & Tasso Island
Explore Bunce Island on the Sierra Leone River Estuary, a site steeped in history. Established by the British in the 1600s, Bunce Island served as a pivotal slave center from which countless Sierra Leoneans were forcibly exiled to North America and the West Indies. Today, the ruins on the island stand as a powerful testament to the tragic legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
Step back into deep time with us as we reflect on this dark chapter of history and honor the resilience of those who endured it. After your exploration, enjoy lunch at the nearby Tasso Island, an ecotourism project that offers a serene setting along the river. Join us in this meaningful journey of remembrance and discovery.
